How Puuunch compares
Puuunch doesn’t try to be the most complete tool — it tries to be the one your team actually fills in. Here is honestly where it wins and where it isn’t the right fit.
| Criterion | Puuunch | A full suite |
|---|---|---|
| Logging a day | Seconds — one line per day | Long form, required fields |
| Learning curve | None — three screens for an employee | Training, often a rollout |
| Weekly approvals | Built in, the week locks | Built in, with rules to configure |
| Expenses and receipts | Included, week by week | Included, often an add-on |
| Invoicing and quotes | No — not the point | Yes |
| Budgets and estimates | In hours, with 80% and 100% warnings | Yes, in money |
| Reports | By project and person, CSV export | Many, sometimes too many |
| Data hosting | AWS in Canada | Varies, often outside Canada |
| Price | CAD $5.50 per person per month | Usually higher, in tiers |
So which one should you choose?
The table above lists differences; it doesn’t decide for you. Here is our answer, in both directions.
Choose Puuunch if
- You are between one and roughly thirty people who sell their time.
- The problem is that hours don’t get logged, not that they aren’t analysed enough.
- You already invoice with something else — an accountant, software, a spreadsheet — and what’s missing is a reliable record to hand it.
- You want the week filled in by Friday without having to ask.
Choose a full suite if
- Invoicing, quotes and hours have to live in one tool.
- You track budgets in money and compare estimated against actual.
- You need multi-level approval rules, per-client rates or resource planning.
- A rollout and training are acceptable because the payoff is elsewhere.
If the second column describes you better, take the full suite — trying Puuunch first would cost you time. We would rather say so here than let you find out three weeks in.

Frequently asked
No invoicing, no quotes, no profitability. A project can carry a budget in hours, with warnings at 80% and 100%, but Puuunch doesn’t weigh a money estimate against actuals: it tracks hours and expenses and exports them to CSV for whatever does the invoicing. That is deliberate — a full suite is a different product.
$5.50 CAD per active person per month, or $4.67 billed annually ($56 a year). You pay for the seats you use — archive someone and the seat frees up. Seven days free, up to five people, no credit card.
Seconds: one line per entry — duration, project, note. Write “1h30”, “1:30”, “90m” or “1.5”. No required field you don’t need.
No. An employee has three screens — their time, their expenses, their reports. One email invitation and they are logging their first day. The rest — projects, clients, approvals, the dashboard — only shows for whoever runs the organisation.
On AWS infrastructure located in Canada, and Puuunch is built in Quebec. Some processors handle data outside Quebec — payment, email, Google sign-in — and they are named in the privacy policy.
At any time. Reports export to CSV, each person downloads their own information from Account → Your data, and managers export the organization’s full records from Settings → Export.
