Puuunch vs Clockify

Clockify is cheaper than Puuunch, and its free plan covers five people forever. Let’s say that first. The question is what the plan that actually contains approvals and expenses costs.

So which one should you choose?

On the sticker price, Clockify wins. On the price of the plan that does the same things, the gap closes. Here is our answer, in both directions.

Choose Puuunch if

  • You want weekly approvals and expenses in the same plan, without climbing to Pro to get both.
  • You want CSV export of your own data not to depend on which plan you’re on.
  • Hosting in Canada, billing in Canadian dollars and a fully bilingual interface matter to you.
  • You would rather have a handful of screens than a product with a great many more.

Stay with Clockify if

  • You’re five people or fewer and the free plan covers you. It is free and we are not — that is a real argument.
  • You track hours and never need anyone to approve them.
  • You want scheduling, forecasting, profitability or the kiosk.
  • Per-seat price is the deciding factor and you need neither expenses nor approvals.

If the free plan covers you, take it — we won’t pretend $7 beats free. Come back the day someone has to approve the week.

Frequently asked

Yes, on the sticker. The free plan covers five people and paid plans start at USD $3.99 a seat billed annually. But timesheet approvals start at the Standard plan and expenses at Pro, at USD $7.99 annually or $9.99 monthly. That is the plan to compare against CAD $5.50.

For five people or fewer who only need to track hours, honestly, yes. It stops being enough the day someone has to approve the week, when expenses arrive, or when you want your data back as CSV — CSV export needs a paid plan.

Yes. Reports → Detailed, then Export → CSV, then Settings → Import in Puuunch. Columns are found by name, and either of Clockify’s two duration columns reads correctly.

No. Clockify invoices from the Standard plan up; Puuunch exports CSV to whatever does the invoicing. That is deliberate.

Less, and that is the point: three screens for an employee, one price, approvals and expenses included, hosting in Canada and a fully bilingual interface.
