Puuunch vs Harvest

Harvest is a good product, and it does more than Puuunch does. The real question isn’t which has more features — it’s whether you’re paying for invoicing and profitability, or only for hours that actually get logged.

So which one should you choose?

Harvest covers more ground. Puuunch covers less, for less, and gets filled in. Here is our answer, in both directions.

Choose Puuunch if

  • You already invoice elsewhere — an accountant, software, a spreadsheet — and what’s missing is a reliable record of hours to hand it.
  • You want weekly approvals without moving to an Enterprise plan — USD $17.50 a seat — to get them.
  • Hosting in Canada and billing in Canadian dollars matter to you.
  • The problem is that hours don’t get logged, not that they aren’t analysed enough.

Stay with Harvest if

  • Your invoices go out of Harvest and your clients pay inside it. Puuunch doesn’t invoice and won’t.
  • You track per-project profitability, and weigh a money estimate against actuals.
  • You rely on QuickBooks Online or Xero syncing automatically.
  • You need SAML SSO or unlimited custom reports.

If the second column describes you, stay with Harvest — it is the right tool for that, and switching would cost you time for nothing.

Coming from Harvest

Your history comes with you. Puuunch reads a Harvest export and lets you review everything before anything is written.

  1. 1

    Export from Harvest

Reports → Detailed time report, then export as CSV. Column order doesn’t matter — columns are found by name.

  2. 2

    Upload the file

    Settings → Import, owner only.

  3. 3

    Review before anything is written

Puuunch shows the people and projects it found, and you decide per person: invite, match to someone existing, or skip. Nothing is saved until you confirm.

Try it with your own hours.

Your first week is free and takes about a minute to set up.
